Beheira (Egypt), Mar 1 (ANI): At least 15 people were killed and 40 were injured in a train crash in Egypt's northern province of Beheira on Wednesday. Two carriages of passenger train separated and collided with a cargo train. Prime Minister Sherif Ismail ordered the transport minister to visit the scene and take actions on related cause of the accident.
London (UK), Feb 28 (ANI): Kate, Britain's Duchess of Cambridge met the midwife who helped deliver her daughter when the heavily pregnant royal visited London's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) on Tuesday (February 27) to become the charity's patron. Kate, 36, the wife of Queen Elizabeth's grandson Prince William, hugged Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent after spotting her during the trip to the RCOG. Midwife Dunkley-Bent was part of the team which delivered Kate's daughter Charlotte in 2015 at the private Lindo wing of St Mary's Hospital in London where son George was also born two years earlier. Kate is due to give birth to her third child in April. Later, she visited London's St Thomas' Hospital to launch the Nursing Now campaign, a three-year project aimed at raising the profile and status of nursing worldwide in collaboration with the International Council of Nurses and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Leicester (UK), Feb 27 (ANI): British police searched for clues in the rubble of a shop and apartment destroyed by an explosion that killed at least five in the city of Leicester on Sunday evening. Police in the English city of Leicester are still looking for the cause of a massive explosion. Police have said there was no immediate indication that the explosion was linked to terrorism. New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Miffed with the high import duty imposed by India on the Harley-Davidson motorbikes, United States President Donald Trump yet again imitated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sans the Indian accent, this time. The high import duty on Harley-Davidson bikes has been a sore spot for the US President, who reiterated his displeasure, saying the US was "getting nothing" out of the recent tariff cut from 100 percent to 50 percent. St Petersburg/Moscow, Feb 26 (ANI): Thousands marched through Moscow's central streets and those in St. Petersburg on Sunday to commemorate murdered Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov and voice criticism of authorities three weeks before a presidential election. Nemtsov, one of President Vladimir Putin's most vocal critics, was shot dead on February 27, 2015 as he walked across a bridge near the Kremlin. Aged 55, he had been working on a report examining Russia's role in the conflict in Ukraine. His killing sent a chill through opposition circles and initiated annual marches in Moscow that united different opposition parties and those who feel discontented about Russian authorities. Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 24 (ANI): Around 5,000 women from various walks of life came together to participate in 'Pinkathon' that was held in Nepal's capital Kathmandu on Saturday. The Pinkathon, organised to raise awareness about breast cancer, comprised of 21-kilometre-long half-marathon including 10-kilometre, 5-kilometre and 3-kilometre categories. 'Pinkathon,' which started in India, came to Nepal last year. The event saw the marathon venue flooded with participants wearing pink t-shirts to spread messages of change and healthier lifestyle. The initiative was established by Supermodel, Actor and fitness freak Milind Soman. 'Pinkathon' was developed to spread awareness on the importance of an active lifestyle among womenfolk and health issues that put their lives at risk. Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 22 (ANI): In an effort to bring disgruntled Madhesi parties on board, the newly-elected Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli's government has reached out to the stakeholders in the Terai region. The early phase of negotiations has not been officially recognized. However, RJP-N leaders remain optimistic of getting their due rights in due course of time. Madhesi leaders said they were ready to join the government provided their demands were met. Amid numerous agreements and promises, the Madhesis want a solution and threatened to protest if their demands are not met. Washington, D.C. (USA), Feb 24 (ANI): A mini-van struck a security barrier outside the White House at Pennsylvania Avenue. According to the United States Secret Service, a female driver has been arrested. The crash was done intentionally and did not breach the barrier, The Hill reported. The Secret Service added that the female driver was suffering from mental problems and that no law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident.
Lahore/Rawalpindi (Pakistan), Feb 24 (ANI): The Pakistan government's claim of having banned the Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) and the Falah-e-Insaniat (FIF) and of having seized all offices and charities run by these organisations has proven to be false, as video evidence reveals that these charities are very much active. The charities of the JuD and the FIF, which the United States claims are terrorist fronts, include over 300 seminaries, schools, hospitals, a publishing house and ambulance services all across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The video evidence shows that these offices of the JuD and the FIF are running in Bhawalpur, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Muzaffarabad. Abu Hurraira, a senior JuD functionary based in Bahawalpur, has strongly criticized the government for banning charitable activities and deeni (religious) activities of the JuD and FIF as well as replacing signboards of these organisations with those of Auqaf boards.
Washington D.C. (USA), Feb 24 (ANI): The United States President Donald Trump on Friday announced new sanctions against North Korea, specifically targeting the country's shipping and trading companies, in a fitting response to further isolate the communist country economically. Announcing the new sanctions at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Trump imposed sanctions against 27 entities and 28 ship vessels either registered or flagged in several countries, including North Korea, China and Singapore, the CNN reported. 16 North Korean shipping companies and nine international shipping companies were added to the US sanctions' list.
Birgunj (Nepal), Feb 23 (ANI): Family members of those killed in police firing during Madhesi movement in 2015 still await to receive government aid. At least 52 people were killed in police firing during the protests as they were demanding amendment in Nepal's constitution. They have accused the government for unfairly not giving equal rights to Madhesis and other minority communities in the country. Binita Devi Kalwar, a relative of Sohan Sah Kalwar, one of the deceased protestor, continues to pin hope for 'justice.' She is hopeful that the new government will do something for Sohan Sah's family. Family of Sohan Sah Kalwar resides in Ward no. 10 in Birgunj and earns livelihood by running a small eatery. As KP Sharma Oli takes over as Nepal's new Prime Minister, the victim families are hopeful to get an aid.
Washington, DC (United States), Feb 23 (ANI): The Pentagon heaped praises on India over its development role in Afghanistan, adding the country has pledged an 'additional developmental aid' in the war-torn country. "India has been very supportive, and they've pledged additional developmental aid in Afghanistan. They've been willing to help with aviation maintenance," Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Dana White said. White added that Pakistan has an opportunity to do more with respect to regional security. Stating it as an 'opportunity,' white said we would 'welcome Pakistan's involvement.' London (UK), Feb 23 (ANI): In an incident of racial attack in London, a Sikh man's turban was allegedly pulled off by a white man outside Parliament when he was standing in a queue. The racial gesture was committed against Ravneet Singh from India. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, a Member of Parliament of United Kingdom from Slough, termed the incident as disgusting and embarrassing. "After the attack, they and I spoke with the police, who said they would get the CCTV footage from outside Portcullis House and take action. I felt embarrassed that he would be left with a personal scar from his visit" he added.
Tokyo (Japan), Feb 22 (ANI): Tokyo hosted the final round of "The Washoku World Challenge" a cooking contest in which Japanese cuisine chefs from all over the world compete and showcase their technical expertise and passion for Japanese food. The contest, the 5th of its kind, was organized by Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries for non-Japanese chefs. More than 100 chefs from over 21 countries participated in this year's contest. And for the first time, the qualifying matches were held in six different cities around the world. "UMAMI" is the theme for the final stage of this year's contest which took place in Tokyo. The six finalists are requested to make five sets of dishes, representing "UMAMI" which is the described as the "Savory" source of flavor in Japanese cuisine.
