Pak SC disqualifies Nawaz Sharif as PML-N Chief

New Delhi, Feb 21 (ANI): Pakistan Supreme Court on Wednesday disqualified former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from the post of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party chief, saying all the decisions made by him as head of the party stand null and void. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar ruled against the Elections Act 2017 passed by the Parliament, which paved the way for Sharif to resume his position as party chief following his disqualification from public office in July last year. The Chief Justice said that as a consequence, Senate tickets issued by Sharif were also declared void, throwing the fate of March 3 Senate elections in doubt. Sharif said his family was being victimised in the name of justice. The Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Sharif from the post of Prime Minister after the apex court found him guilty in the Panama Papers verdict.

Newly elected CM of Province 2 assures development, good governance

Birgunj (Nepal), Feb 21 (ANI): Mohammad Lalbabu Raut Gaddi, the first Chief Minister of Province No 2, one of the seven federal states in Nepal, received a grand welcome upon his arrival in Birgunj by the industry and commerce association on Wednesday. At a programme organized by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Raut said achieving development and prosperity by maintaining good governance in Province No. 2 was the main objective of his government. He added that peace and good governance are basic preconditions for development and prosperity.Similarly, Minister for Infrastructure Development of Province No. 2, Jitendra Sonal said maintaining good governance is first priority of the province government.

Zulfikar Bhutto has said that his family did not pressurise him to enter into politics, but several Pakistanis believe him to be natural heir of the political dynasty.

Nearly 250 civilians killed in Syria 'bombardment'

Syria, Feb 21 (ANI): Nearly 250 civilians have been killed by shelling and regime airstrikes in Syria's Eastern Ghouta region in the last 48 hours, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Tuesday. Doctors were working round the clock to treat hundreds of injured people, even though medical supplies and facilities were in short supply.

Zimbabweans pay tribute to late Opposition leader Tsvangirai

Harare (Zimbabwe), Feb 20 (ANI): Thousands of supporters gathered at Harare's Freedom Square on Monday for the final farewell to Zimbabwe's late Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai died last week at the age of 65. People were dancing and cheering as they followed the hearse and then listened to Tsvangirai's family members and leaders of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party speaking. One of the Zimbabwe's most popular politicians, Tsvangirai died after a long battle with cancer.

Pakistan Army, ISI killed Prof Arif, alleges Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain

Hundreds gather in Florida for stronger gun laws

Baloch Republican Party protests against Pakistan atrocities

Mexican military helicopter crash kills 13 on ground

Mexico, Feb 18 (ANI): At least 13 people died and 15 were injured after a Mexican military helicopter crashed in n a small town in the southern state of Oaxaca. The helicopter carrying top officials was surveying damage from an earthquake. The chopper was carrying Mexico's interior minister and the state governor who were assessing the damage. It landed on top of two vans in an open field. Though the senior officials survived but the crash left the town of Jamiltepec in a state of dismay and grief. Nearly a million homes and businesses were left without power in Mexico City and the south after the powerful earthquake while 50 homes were damaged in Oaxaca.

India's Ambassador calls on Nepal PM Oli

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 16(ANI): India's Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri called on the newly-elected Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli at his official Baluwatar residence. Ambassador Puri offered his best wishes to Prime Minister Oli and handed over a letter of congratulation to him from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi on Thursday congratulated Oli on being sworn-in as Nepal's Prime Minister for the second time. Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 65-year-old Prime Minister at a function held at the President's Office, Shital Niwas, in Maharajgunj in Kathmandu. Oli, who had previously served as the country's Prime Minister from October 11, 2015, to August 3, 2016, is the first premier of Nepal after the promulgation of the new constitution in 2015.
