Addressing at the event, Haley said "I am a proud daughter of Indian parents," who paid a visit to the Indian Embassy in the U.S. on Wednesday and met Indian Ambassador Navtej Sarna.

Brexit won't hit ties with Britain, assures China

New Delhi, Feb 01 (ANI): Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday said China's relations with Britain will remain 'unchanged' through Brexit. Keqiang's statement comes while British Prime Minister Theresa May is on a three-day-long visit to China, where she aims to sign deals worth nine billion pounds. Wuhan University plays host to Theresa May for a demonstration on models. May seeks a new model for bilateral trade as Britain squares up to an era beyond, and outside, the EU. There cannot be a full trade accord until the UK's divorce with the EU next year. Meanwhile, China accounts for only 3 percent of British exports. Business from this trip is likely to amount to a modest nine billion pounds of deals. An agreement to lift a ban on British beef exports is also expected to be lifted. There were words of reassurance from Premier Li. China is keen to push its trillion dollar Belt and Road infrastructure project- that has 'potential,' according to May.

Prince William, Kate interact with schoolchildren during Sweden tour

Stockholm (Sweden), Feb 01 (ANI): Britain's royal couple Prince William and his wife Kate visited a research institute and a school in Stockholm on Wednesday. The couple is expecting their third child. It was the second day of their four-day-long visit to Sweden and Norway. They visited the Karolinska Institutet with Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. There, the couple learned about Sweden's ways of tackling mental health issues among young people. They later visited a school in central Stockholm where they interacted with teachers and students who have participated in 'Youth Aware of Mental Health' programme. Kate, William and his brother Harry have made campaigning about mental health a priority, with the brothers speaking about how the death of their mother Diana, Princess of Wales, in a 1997 car crash left them with deep emotional scars.

Angelina Jolie urges NATO to tackle sexual violence in war

Brussels (Belgium), Feb 01 (ANI): In an attempt to step up her international efforts to protect women's rights, U.N. Refugee Agency Special Envoy and actress Angelina Jolie address sexual violence in areas of conflict. She urged NATO to help stop the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. The Hollywood star made her appeal to the U.S.-led alliance's top decision-making body, the North Atlantic Council, in Brussels, and later visited NATO military commanders. NATO has agreed to help report on sexual violence in war to challenge the idea that rape is an unavoidable aspect of conflict. Jolie said she had met victims of sexual violence in conflict and was trying to be a voice for them. Expressing frustration on the lack of assistance available to victims, Jolie pinned hope that NATO could help by raising standards in other militaries through its training programs abroad, as well as promoting the role of women in the military.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, YK Sinha said that not only Indian community but the whole world remembers 'Bapu' for his remarkable work. "His display of work served as a beacon of hope to the world," Sinha added. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi. He went on saying that Mahatma Gandhi, who was described as' Half Naked Fakir' by Winston Churchill, achieved so much that he is remembered as one of the most remembered man in the world history.

Donald Trump's national security considering to build 5G network

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): President Donald Trump's national security team is looking at options to counter the threat of China spying on U.S. phone calls that include building a super-fast 5G wireless network. The network would be a response to - what officials see - as China's threat to U.S. cyber and economic security. A 5G network will be fast, with more capacity and shorter response times. The news sent stocks of telecom companies lower. Major wireless carriers have already spent billions of dollars developing 5G.

Kabul attack: Afghanistan mourns over 100 deaths

Kabul (Afghanistan), Jan 29 (ANI): Kabul was in despair on Sunday, a day after a Taliban suicide bomber killed over 100 people and wounded at least 235 in the worst attack in the Afghan capital in months. Mourning the loss of their loved ones, Afghanistan's capital city Kabul turned from shock to despair. The country's Interior Minister said at least two vehicles painted as ambulances were involved in the bombing. One blew up when it was stopped at a police checkpoint. The attack was in one of the most heavily protected parts of the city. It has led to some more pressure on Afghanistan's president to increase security. Taliban killed more than 20 people in an overnight siege on Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel just a week ago.

Protest held in Gilgit-Baltistan against murder of students by Pakistan

Gilgit-Baltistan (PoK), Jan 28 (ANI): A number of Gilgit-Baltistan residents staged a protest against murder of students by Pakistan. Carrying placards, the protestors gathered on roads and demanded justice for the deceased students. Students and several civil society organisations participated in the massive protest, demanding security for people living in various cities of the province. Earlier, Dilawar Abbas, a first-year student and resident of Gilgit was brutally beaten by a group of men in Pakistan's Lahore. The protests were organised in Skardu and Ghanche districts. Saudi billionaire Alwaleed released from detention

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Jan 28 (ANI): Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was released after a financial settlement was approved by the state prosecutor. He was detained for two months in this hotel which has been transformed into a luxurious prison. Many political and business elite who were arrested in an anti-corruption crackdown in the kingdom were detained here. Prince Alwaleed was arrested in November by a new anti-corruption body headed by the Saudi crown prince. Over 200 princes, politicians, and wealthy businessmen were detained in the crackdown. The flamboyant prince is one of the richest men in the world. He has investments in top companies like Apple, Disney, Twitter and Time Warner. Authorities had been hoping to reach financial settlements with most suspects and believed they could raise some 100-billion dollars for the government this way. The main part of the corruption probe is now believed to be winding down.

France floods: Seine surges higher, Paris on alert

France, Jan 28 (ANI): River Seine's levels rose further on Saturday and were set to hit a peak this weekend. The government's 'Vigicrues' flood monitoring body showed a slight increase overnight in the levels of the river in the capital. The level rose to 5.69 meters (18.67 feet). The Seine's overflowing waters have engulfed riverside walkways. Swans are now swimming in places where there are usually pavements. Residents of Villeneuve Saint Georges have been greatly affected by the increasing water levels of the Seine. Some areas are only accessible by boat.

Kabul (Afghanistan), Jan 28 (ANI): A bomb hidden in an ambulance killed at least 95 people and wounded about 140 in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Saturday. It blew up near foreign embassies and government buildings in the capital. The blast occurred at a police checkpoint. The streets were busy when the explosion happened as Saturday is a working day in Afghanistan. A representative of Italian aid group 'Emergency' called the attack a "massacre". Eyewitness of the blast said he was sitting in his shop when he heard the blast, which shattered all the windows in the building. The Taliban have claimed responsibility. The deadly blast comes only a week after the group attacked Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel killing more than 20 people.

India donates ambulances, gives book grants to Nepal on its Republic Day

Kathmandu, Birgunj (Nepal), Jan 27 (ANI): The Indian embassy in Kathmandu celebrated New Delhi's 69th Republic Day on Friday with numerous school children and a band of the Nepal army performing on the occasion. At least 17 dead in car bomb at checkpoint in Kabul

Kabul (Afghanistan), Jan 27 (ANI): A bomb hidden in an ambulance killed at least 17 people and wounded about 110 at a police checkpoint in the Afghan capital Kabul on Saturday, in an area near foreign embassies and government buildings. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, a week after it claimed an attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul in which more than 20 people were killed. The area was surrounded by many foreign embassies and government buildings. According to an eyewitness, the explosion was close to the gate of the old Ministry of Interior building in the city. The wounded were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. A plume of gray smoke rose from the blast area in the city center and buildings hundreds of meters away were shaken by the force of the explosion.
