Residents of a city in southern Poland bought an iconic communist era "toddler" car after he shared a photograph of himself with the automobile on social media last year. It all started with a picture of Tom Hanks with a smile on his face leaning on the tiny Fiat 126p car, known as the "toddler" in Poland. Monika Jaskolska, a resident of the city of Bielsko Biala, where the car was produced from the 1970s, decided to organise fundraising to send Hanks one of the cars. Polish racing driver Rafal Sonik then offered to renovate the car for Hanks. Fiat 126p cars are rarely seen on Polish roads nowadays. Despite its name, some people say it is possible to fit up to 14 people inside the vehicle.
New Delhi, Dec 02 (ANI): NASA astronaut Randy Bresnik has captured beautiful images of lightning strikes illuminating the skies above China, Korea and Japan. A timelapse video uploaded by Bresnik shows a "spectacle of lightning strikes" as viewed from the International Space Station (ISS), according to a description given with the video. The images also feature city lights and fishing boats visible around the Sea of Japan, the Expedition 53 commander said.

France, Dec 02 (ANI): French President Emmanuel Macron's wife Brigitte Macron will officially name a panda cub at a zoo in southern France. The naming ceremony of this tiny panda cub will serve as an unlikely setting for international diplomacy. France's First Lady Brigitte Macron, who is also the godmother to the new panda, will be joined by Chinese officials to choose a new name. The 4-month-old cub, until now referred to as "Mini Yuan Zi" after his father was the first to be born in France after his parents arrived in 2012. Their arrival was hailed as a sign of warming diplomatic ties between Paris and Beijing. The official naming ceremony for the panda cub will take place on December 4.

Speaking at the summit, Swaraj said India condemns all forms of terrorism and everyone must reaffirm that terrorism cannot or should not be associated with any religion, civilization or ethnic group. It is a crime against humanity, she added. On behalf of India, she said the country urges cooperation from all other countries to enhance co-operation by intelligence sharing, law and order, mutual extradition agreements to counter terrorism. Swaraj is expected to meet several SCO leaders in Russia on the sidelines of the summit.
New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): While the controversy surrounding American film producer Harvey Weinstein had not yet faded away, another sexual misconduct scandal unfolded recently, this time its king of hip-hop Russell Simmons, who is stepping down his throne. Simmons is the latest popular name to be accused of sexual misconduct by screenwriter Jenny Lumet, who accused Simmons of forcing himself on her in his New York apartment in 1991. Simmons said he will step down from all of his fashion and production business and also apologised for his behavior in a statement. "While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize," part of the statement read.

Piraeus (Greece), Dec 01 (ANI): As many as 300 asylum-seekers were moved from the island of Lesvos to the mainland. The Greek authorities moved the asylum-seekers on Thursday in an effort to ease overcrowding in its camps. Thirty-year old Afghanistan-based Mohammad Firuz said he escaped "hell" and that arriving in Athens felt like "heaven". Firuz stayed in Moria camp on Lesvos for two months. Thousands of asylum-seekers were stranded on Lesvos and four other islands near Turkey since the European Union agreed to shut down the route through Greece in a deal with Ankara in March 2016. Firuz was among more than 300 people aboard a ferry that reached the port of Piraeus early on Thursday. The asylum seekers will be transferred to camps and apartments on the mainland.

Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dec 01 (ANI): At least seven persons were killed and five others went missing in Sri Lanka as torrential rains accompanied by gusty winds lashed the island nation. Three fishermen from Ambalangoda and Dodanduwa were among the deceased. The adverse condition has caused destruction in various parts of Sri Lanka's Southern Province and in the central hills. The radio signal installations in Galle and Matara have been damaged due to strong winds in the region. Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department said that the deep depression in the Arabian Sea was now located at 300 km to the west of Colombo and heavy rains with strong winds can be expected further in the deep and shallow sea areas around the island.
Seville (Spain), Dec 01 (ANI) : A passenger train derailed in the Spanish province of Seville on Wednesday, leaving 21 people injured, one seriously. The medium-distance train was travelling between Malaga and Seville and slid off the tracks in the municipality of Arahal due to adverse conditions caused by heavy rain, a spokeswoman for the national transporter Renfe said. Andalusia emergency services said earlier on Wednesday that they had attended more than 100 incidents caused by severe weather conditions in the Seville region, mostly on the roads. Four people were killed and 47 injured after a train derailed in Galicia in northwestern Spain last year while some 80 people were killed in Spain's worst rail disaster in decades when a high-speed train went off the tracks and slammed into a wall, also in Galicia.

Dhading (Nepal), Nov 30 (ANI): At least seven people were killed and 25 injured in Chitwan district of Nepal on Wednesday morning after a bus collided with a truck and fell into Trishuli River. Reportedly, five passengers, who are critical, have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. Operations are currently underway to rescue passengers of the bus which fell 25 feet deep into the river. Road accidents are common in mountainous Nepal and among one of the most common causes of death every year. Accidents are often blamed on poorly maintained and crowded vehicles.

During the reading of his appeal sentencing, former wartime leader, Slobodan Praljak, drank from a small flask. Following the incident, presiding judge called for a doctor and halted the proceedings.
