Nepal Govt. announces Rs 1 million for families of those killed in Madhesi protest

Nepal, Aug 18 (ANI): The Nepal Government has announced to give compensation of Rs 1 million to the families of those killed during the Madhesi movement, at a cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar on Thursday. The compensation amount will be given to the families of 41 protestors and 11 security personnel. Minister for Information and Communications Ram Karki told reporters that the government decided to distribute the amount upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Madhesi parties had been demanding the formation of a probe committee to look into excessive use of force by the security personnel.

Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug 18 (ANI): Woman wrestler Sakshi Malik ended India's wait for a medal at the Rio Olympic Games by clinching the bronze in the 58 Kilogram category, pulling off a sensational 8-5 victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan. With the win, Malik has now become only the fourth Indian woman athlete to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleshwari, Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal. Sakshi said that she always dreamed of running with flag and when she finally did it, it was best moment of her life.

Would be happier to see coach get Dronacharya award, says gymnast Dipa Karmakar

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug 18 (ANI): Expressing her happiness over being recommended for the coveted Khel Ratna award, Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar on Thursday said she would be happier if her coach Bishweshwar Nandi is given the Dronacharya award. People in Gilgit protest against Pakistan's atrocities

Gilgit-Baltistan, Aug 16: The anger and resentment continue in Gilgit-Baltistan against the excesses committed by Pakistani security forces and exploitation of resources of the region by the federal government. Thousands of dead bodies being unearthed in Balochistan

Balochistan, Aug 16 (ANI): The province of Balochistan continues to suffer from the wrath of law enforcement agencies. According to official reports, nearly a thousand bullet-ridden corpses have been recovered from various parts of Balochistan in the past six years. Many of these corpses cannot be recognised as their faces have been burnt by acid, which is a tactic used by the intelligence agencies. The unofficial death toll is estimated to be much more. The official data also discloses that over 112 persons are still missing in the province. Kin of slain Nepali soldiers having served Indian Army provided financial relief on I-Day

Kathmandu, Aug 15 (ANI): On the occasion of the 70th Independence Day, India on Monday provided Rs 40 crore to the families of 14 Nepali soldiers, who lost their lives while serving in the Indian Army or after retirement. Indian Embassy in Kathmandu provided the relief amount to the families of the ex-servicemen and war veterans. Depending on the length of their service, the families of those killed in the line of duty were provided relief amount varying from Rs 48.05 to Rs 48.19 lakh. Likewise, families of those who died after retirement received Rs 3.2 to Rs 3.33 lakh. The Indian Embassy also gifted 40 ambulances and eight buses to different hospitals, educational institutions and non-profitable organisations.

Baloch leaders seek help against Pakistan military's atrocities in Balochistan
