Kathmandu, Mar 20 (ANI): Britain's Prince Harry who arrived in Nepal on a five-day official visit, met Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli in Baluwatar, Both the dignitaries engaged in a meeting wherein Prime Minister Oli and Prince Harry discussed Nepal-UK diplomatic relations. Prince Harry also lauded the role of Gurkha soldiers, with whom he had served in Afghanistan. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the ratification of the Treaty of Segauli that formalised diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Istanbul, Mar 19 (ANI): At least four people were killed and 20 others injured in a suicide bomb blast in Istanbul on Saturday. The explosion was in Istiklal Street, a wide boulevard closed to traffic that is lined with international stores and shopping centres.
Rostov-On-Don (Russia), Mar 19 (ANI): A passenger flight, Flydubai FZ981, crashed in southern Russia. All 59 passengers and six crew on board are reported to have been killed in the crash. Russia's emergencies ministry said the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, crashed at the airport in Rostov at the end of a flight from Dubai. The aircraft had to abandon an initial attempt to land and came down while making a repeat attempt. As per reports, most of the passengers on board were Russian. Dubai-based airline Flydubai said it was investigating the incident regarding one of its flights to southern Russia.
Islamabad, Mar 19 (ANI): World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan, now a leading Pakistani politician, left Islamabad to watch Saturday's Pakistan-India World Cup Twenty20 clash in the Kolkata city and also share a few words of wisdom with the team ahead of the match. Imran Khan, who lifted the winning trophy of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup, 1992, will also commentate for Sky Sports. He and former superstar Wasim Akram will meet the Pakistan team just before the match on Saturday (March 19) to give "experience-based pressure-assuage tips" to the players. Pakistan have never defeated India in a World Cup match but coach Waqar Younis is confident his team can break the jinx against the hosts who are smarting from a thumping defeat against New Zealand in their tournament opener. Imran said that Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee had invited him for a meeting adding that the people-to-people contacts were necessary for improved relations between the two countries.
Nepal, Mar 18 (ANI): Sohan Sah Kalwar, a Madhesi activist was killed by Nepal Police in September last year while he was at his home. He is survived by his wife Binita Devi and two children. The compensation of Rs 10 Lakh announced by the government has not been of much help to the family. Binita Devi demands that the government take responsibility of her children. Around 55 people were killed in the Madhesi agitation that began in September last year. The families of those killed claims the government has done little to help them.
Kawasaki/Tokyo Mar 18 (ANI): Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation Toshiba has reopened a new Science Museum showcasing the company's history and innovative technologies. The museum introduces the history of Toshiba and the application of cutting-edge technology. Visitors can experience this amazing innovation technology through experiments and workshops in which they can learn science and technology. The museum displays "Man-nen Jimeisho" chronometer, which was created 150 years ago by Tanaka Hisashige. Miyako Nakata of Toshiba Science Museum said the company produced Japan's first washing machine in 1930. A marathon was recently held in Tokyo in which over 37,000 runners participated. To organize this event safely, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department mobilized the police to guard security. Karachi, Mar 18 (ANI): Former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf left the country on Friday for medical treatment in Dubai after the government lifted a travel ban imposed on him as he awaited trial on treason and other charges. The Pakistan Supreme Court had earlier ordered the government to lift the travel ban on Musharraf, paving the way for him to leave the country. Musharraf left his home in a heavily guarded convoy for the Karachi airport. Later, Musharraf was seen with his party leaders raising hands.
Pokhra (Nepal), Mar 18 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj after her three-day visit to the 37th SAARC Ministerial Meeting in Nepal left for India early on Friday. Swaraj today left Pokhra after attending the SAARC Ministerial meeting, which was on the sidelines of the summit. Karachi, Mar 18 (ANI): A Pakistani model on Friday said she will never renege on her promise to do a 'strip dance' if Pakistan beats India in their World Twenty20 clash on March 19 in Kolkata. The model, Qandeel Baloch, 25, who is also a big fan of Shahid Afridi has posted a video on her Facebook page. Baloch said she was doing it to motivate the Pakistan squad. Pokhra, Mar 17 (ANI): Ahead of their bilateral talks which are slated for today on the sidelines of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) ministerial meeting here, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz joined for breakfast and were seen exchanging pleasantries. Both the leaders were seen sitting next to each other on the breakfast table and talking as other dignitaries and officials joined them. Nepal, Mar 16 (ANI): UDMF decided its course of action during a meeting at the office of Federal Socialist Forum. Rajendra Shrestha, Leader of Federal Socialist Forum, opposed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China. It was decided that the party workers would take out a demonstration on March 19 from Santibatika to Maitighar Mandala holding black flags against the government. Shrestha said that the party would hold bigger protests if their demand for delineation of federal states was not met by the government.
Nepal, Mar 16 (ANI): A meeting was held between Indian foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar and Prime Minister of Nepal KP Oli. Senior council of ministers and bureaucrats were also present during the meeting. The two sides discussed various bilateral issues. Gopal Khanal, foreign advisor of Oli, said that Prime Minister expressed satisfaction after misunderstandings between the two countries were sorted out and the situation is returning to normal. Jai Shankar reiterated India's desire for peace and development in Nepal. Oli also assured Indian delegation that his government was ready to address the concerns of Madhes and hoped that India would continue its economic support to Nepal.

Peshawar, Mar 16 (ANI): In a horrid incident in Pakistan's Peshawar city, a bus carrying government employees exploded on Wednesday killing at least 15 people. The explosion took place on a main road after the bus picked up government workers from districts surrounding Peshawar and was transporting them to work in the city. The footage was filmed off the security monitor of a shop located near the blast site.
Pokhra, Mar 16 (ANI): The foreign secretaries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations on Wednesday attended the 42nd inaugural session of the Standing Committee in Pokhra, Nepal. This is the 37th SARRC Summit where the foreign ministers of South Asian countries will review the progress made on the agendas taken up during the last summit. Pokhra (Nepal), Mar 16 (ANI): India and Pakistan's foreign secretaries Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry met in Pokhara, Nepal, at the 37th SAARC Summit early on Wednesday morning. Both the foreign secretaries had exchanged courtesies last night. This was the first time the two have met since the Pathankot airbase attacks in January, which derailed the bilateral ties between the two nations.

Geneva, Mar 12 (ANI): Leaders and activists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have said that the proposed multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) passing through Gilgit is a design by Pakistan and China to exploit the region's resources. The CPEC is a collection of projects currently under construction at a cost of US dollar 46 billion which are intended to upgrade and expand Pakistani infrastructure. The corridor is considered to be an extension of China's ambitious proposed 21st century Silk Road initiative.
