Strong economic cooperation required among BRICS nations: PM Modi

Ufa, July 09 (ANI): Speaking at BRICS Business Council in the Russian city of Ufa on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a strong economic cooperation is required among the BRICS nations. The leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will hold a two-day summit beginning today. PM Modi said that BRICS nations should see their strengths and then cooperate on skill development. Modi also said that Contingency reserve arrangement can now be a reality.

PM Modi meets Iran's President Hassan Rouhani in Russia

Ufa, July 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani in Ufa city of Russia on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Both the leaders were accompanied by a high level delegation and bilateral talks were held between them. PM Modi is in Ufa to attend the two day BRICS summit in Ufa. Modi will also be attending the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Ufa. The Prime Minister is on the third leg of his tour to six central Asian countries and Russia. The other countries on Modi's itinerary are Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Paramilitary Rangers to continue policing Karachi, says minister

Islamabad, July 09 (ANI): Pakistan's Home Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan expressed concerns over criticism against the deployment of Rangers in Karachi, saying the paramilitary force is working in accordance with the law. On November 10 last year, the Sindh government had, through a notification under the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Act, allowed the Rangers to detain any suspect for 90 days in their custody with the permission of the court and for further interrogations for 120 days. These powers were extended in March this year for further 120 days. The Rangers operation in Karachi started late in 2013, when the crime rate in the teeming port city soared. PM Modi meets Vladimir Putin, thanks Russia for participating in Yoga Day

Ufa, July 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit and held bilateral talks with him. Modi thanked Russia for participating in the International Yoga Day, saying that it would encourage and motivate the new generation towards holistic healthcare across the world. Vladimir Putin in return told Modi that he himself hasn't tried yoga as it seemed to need great perfection.
