New York, June 21 (ANI): Indian students on Sunday arrived at United Nations headquarters in New York to celebrate International Yoga Day. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is in the city and is scheduled to participate in the International Yoga Day event being organised by the Indian Mission at the United Nations. The students said that they were proud that yoga came on the international platform by the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

New York, June 21 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj addressed the International Yoga Day event at United Nations headquarters in New York. Swaraj said that yoga can serve as a perfect antidote in a divided world. She said that when ethnic conflicts and extremist violence are threatening to destabilize society, yoga is the only solution. Swaraj also maintained that yoga is neither a religion, nor should it be seen as belonging to any religion and that it's a science of well-being.

New York, June 21 (ANI): United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday addressed the Yoga Day event in New York and also quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sushma Swaraj, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at UN Headquarter to commemorate International Yoga Day

New York, June 21 (ANI): Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar arrived at United Nations Headquarter to commemorate International Yoga Day on Sunday. Swaraj was welcomed at the UN as the event started. Talking about the same, Ravi Shankar said that yoga can contribute in education system as much it can contribute in defence system of any country. International Yoga Day celebration begins at UN with message from PM Modi

New York, June 21 (ANI): Celebrations began at United Nations headquarters in New York for International Yoga Day with a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. While addressing the people present at the event through a recorded message, PM Modi said that it is a proud moment that 177 countries accepted the India's legacy as their own. Modi said that nature of the world is to get together and that yoga is one medium to facilitate the same. He also maintained that yoga will be a facilitator to get the world rid of the tensions facing them. I also appealed people to accept yoga for a better life and to get introduced to their own selves. PM Modi also asked people to pass on the legacy of yoga to generations to come.

Meanwhile in New York, thousands of people are expected to practice yoga at the Times Square and U.N. Visitor's Plaza on Sunday on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Pakistan army chief vows to make Pakistan "terror free"

Pakistan, June 20 (ANI): Pakistan's army chief, General Raheel Sharif vowed to apprehend all terrorists, their facilitators and financiers in order to achieve the objective of a 'terror-free' Pakistan. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sharif, who returned from a three-day visit to Moscow recently, spent the entire day with troops in the Khyber tribal Agency to review the progress of a military operation against terrorists, which is in its concluding phase. Sharif first visited Jawaro near the Pak-Afghan border where the terrorists' strongholds have been greatly reduced. Pakistan releases 113 Indian fishermen as goodwill gesture on Ramadan

Karachi, June 19 (ANI): Pakistan released 113 Indian prisoners, all of them fishermen, as a "goodwill gesture" after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up his Pakistani counterpart, officials said. Late on Tuesday, PM Modi called Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to greet him ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts Friday. In his telephonic conversation, Modi also conveyed to Sharif India's decision to release detained Pakistani fishermen on the occasion of Ramadan, a move seen as a bid to lower tensions between the two countries. The Indian prisoners were freed from Malir jail in port city of Karachi. On their release, Pakistan's biggest "Edhi charity" distributed gifts and cash among prisoners. The prisoners were shifted to railway station using a bus. After reaching Lahore, they will be handed over to the Indian authorities at the land Wagah Border.

Jaitley rings NYSE closing bell

New York, June 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in the United States and also toured the trading floor of the world's largest stock exchange. Jaitley, who began his 10-day US trip on Wednesday, was accompanied by a high-level Indian business delegation. Jaitley rang the customary closing bell at the close of trading at 4 p.m. Before ringing the bell, Jaitley met senior stock exchange officials and toured the facility where the Indian tricolor was displayed on various television screens. Japan develops unmanned helicopter for use in agricultural industry

Shizuoka/ Ho Chi Minh City, June 18 (ANI): The Miho-no-Matsubara is a seven-kilometer seashore area lined with pine trees along the coast of Miho Peninsula in Japan. In 2013, the pine groves were added to the UNESCO's World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan Cultural Site. However, the pine trees in the area start dying because of pine wilt disease, spread from the import lumber trees. To prevent pine trees from the disease, Shizuoka city decided to utilize an unmanned helicopter at first time to spray pesticides in the Miho-no-Matsubara. An unmanned helicopter "FAZER" is designed and manufactured by Yamaha Motor mainly for use in the agricultural industry. The test for pesticide spraying conducted last year proved that it has succeeded to reduce to a quarter of pine trees needed to be cut down compared to the previous year. Hizbul Mujahideen endorses call for shutdown in Kashmir to protest Sopore killings

Muzaffarabad, June 18 (ANI): Syed Salahuddin, Supreme Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, a Kashmiri militant group endorsed the calls of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) for a shutdown in Kashmir valley to protest the recent killing of civilians in Sopore. After years of sharply reduced political violence in 'Indian controlled Kashmir', the gunning down of four men with links to militants has fanned fears of a new wave of bloodletting. No group has claimed responsibility for the killings, but the police blame a breakaway faction of Hizbul Mujahideen, the largest group in the region. Rafale jet sale to India could be concluded soon, says French defence minister

France, June 17 (ANI): India's purchase of 36 French Rafale military fighter jets could be concluded within two or three months, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said during the Paris Air Show. The deal, unveiled in India in April, came after manufacturer Dassault Aviation won its first export order for the jets in February from Egypt. Since then, Qatar has also placed an order and talks are under way with Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

Medical Students in PoK Demand Affiliation of Their University

Nation dismayed by 'imprudent statements from the Indian political leadership': Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad, June 12 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the Pakistani nation was dismayed by the recent "irresponsible" and "imprudent" statements by Indian political leadership. Pakistan Army Chief indirectly dares India to cast an evil eye post Myanmar raids

Rawalpindi, June 11 (ANI): Pakistan's army chief General Raheel Sharif presided over a formation commanders' conference held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. In his address, General Raheel Sharif, recounting the successes of security forces in the ongoing operation against terrorists, said terrorists have been dislodged from their strongholds in North Waziristan and the Khyber Tribal Agency, and the fight was now moving into the last few terrorist pockets close to the Afghan border. "The forum took serious notice of the recent Indian hostile rhetoric coupled with covert and overt actions to destabilise Pakistan," ISPR said in an unusually strong statement. Pak lawmakers ask govt to give 'resounding answer' to Modi's remark

Islamabad, June 10 (ANI): Pakistan slammed the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh where he accused Pakistan of spreading terrorism in India and also admitted that India had played a part in the break-up of Pakistan in 1971. Some Pakistani parliamentarians targeted Modi, with many asking the Pakistani government to use Modi's confession to sue India for war crimes. East Pakistan broke off from West Pakistan on December 6, 1971, almost 25 years after the partition of the Indian subcontinent, and declared independence, renaming itself as Bangladesh. Pakistan finally recognized Bangladesh at the Islamic Conference in Lahore on February 22, 1974. Formal diplomatic relations were initiated between the two states in 1976.
