Bangladesh opposition leader Zia granted bail in graft cases

Dhaka, April 05 (ANI): Bangladesh's former Prime Minister and main opposition leader Khaleda Zia was granted bail in two graft cases on Sunday after she appeared before a special court, a potential sign of easing tension in the politically unstable South Asian country. Zia appeared amid tight security before a special anti-graft court in the capital, Dhaka, to request bail more than a month after warrants for her arrest were issued. Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has intensified protests this year in a bid to force Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to step down and hold a new vote under a neutral caretaker administration after a disputed 2014 poll. The BNP refused to take part in the 2014 general election, saying it was rigged. The 69-year-old former leader has been staying in her office in Dhaka's diplomatic enclave since she was prevented from holding a mass rally in January, the first anniversary of the disputed election.

Indian navy evacuates 441 people, including foreigners, from Yemen

Yemen, April 05 (ANI): An Indian navy ship evacuated 441 people, including 179 foreigners from 17 countries, from Aden port of war-torn Yemen. India is trying to get around 4,000 nationals, more than half of them nurses, out of Yemen, where Shi'ite Houthi fighters have swept into the port city of Aden despite an air campaign led by Saudi Arabia to check their advance. INS Mumbai, which was unable to anchor at Aden due to heavy firing, reached Djibouti harbour on Sunday morning with evacuees. India has pressed into service its aircraft and navy to reach out to its citizens in the conflict zones and has repatriated nearly 2,000 citizens. India airlifted 80 people from the capital Sana'a, but it has been unable to send in more flights because Riyadh, which has air supremacy over its southern neighbour, has not opened a safe air corridor.

Javad Zarif said the negotiations with world powers had led to a significant breakthrough. The tentative agreement clears the way for talks on a future comprehensive settlement that should allay Western fears that Iran was seeking to build an atomic bomb and in return lift economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic. The negotiations went right down to the wire, with no certainty that they would not end in failure.

Pakistan says "mutton Biryani" disclosure raises questions about credibility of Indian trial processes

Islamabad, March 26 (ANI): Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson on Thursday bemoaned the justice system of India for denying justice to families who had lost their loved ones in the terrorist attack on Samjotha Express eight years ago. Replying to a question about the denial of visas to a Pakistani couple Rana Shaukat Ali and his wife Rukhsana who had lost five children in the attack on the train in 2007, spokesperson Tasnim Aslam attacked the Indian Government. Further targeting India, Aslam said the disclosure by Ujjwal Nikam, public prosecutor in the case of Mumbai terror-attack accused Ajmal Kasab, showed flaws in the Indian justice system. Responding to a question regarding the registration of a case by India against Hurriyat leader Asiya Andrabi for unfurling a Pakistani flag on Pakistan's Republic Day on March 23, Aslam alleged that people in Indian Kashmir are being subjected to suppression.

Co-pilot deliberately crashed Germanwings plane: French Prosecutor

France, March 26 (ANI): The co-pilot of the Germanwings airliner that crashed in the French Alps killing all 150 people aboard appears to have brought the A320 Airbus down deliberately, the Marseille prosecutor said on Thursday. German Andreas Lubitz, 28, left in sole control of the Airbus A320 after the captain left the cockpit, refused to re-open the door and operated a control that sent the plane into its final, fatal descent, the prosecutor Brice Robin told a news conference. Robin said Lubitz was not known as a terrorist and there were no grounds to consider the crash as a terrorist incident. He also said passengers' screams could be heard on the recordings just before the final impact.
