DD to set up regional channel in Vijayawada

Doordarshan will soon be ready to launch a new regional channel which will function from Vijayawada.

Vijayawada region will host residuary Andhra Pradesh's new capital, post-bifurcation.

In a tweet, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, who visited Andhra Pradesh, said the channel will be ready by the end of this month.

"Reviewed preparations of #DD - Vijayawada. It will be ready for inauguration by month-end," Javadekar said in a post on Twitter.

It is learnt that after the creation of Telangana, public broadcaster Prasar Bharati had decided to establish a new Doordarshan centre at Vijayawada.
