As the first Bengali film dedicated to a Bangla rock music icon of the 70s-80s, Hanuman.Com is an official tribute to Goutam Chattopadhyay, whose 'Mohiner Ghoraguli' became a cult in the 80s, film's lead Prosenjit Chatterjee says.
"The more I hear the lyrics and tunes of contemporary musicians I do realise how Goutam Chattopadhyay was the path breaker by composing the 'Prithivita naki chhoto hote hote....' number which sounds so much prophetic," Prosenjit told PTI here.
"With the film, that dwells on digital merger of the world through the eyes of protagonist Anjaniputra, being so much in sync with the theme of the chart topper lyrics penned by Goutamda, we decided to use the lines and dedicate the movie to his memory," the intrepid adventurer 'Kakababu' in 'Mishawr Rawhosyo' said.
"We took the consent of Goutamda's wife to use the lyrics and she was happy knowing the subject of the movie. Goutam Chattopadhyay was a prophetic about the role of digital world in our lives," director Gourab Pandey said.
Kaushik Sen, the on-screen teacher-colleague of Anjaniputra, said it was a tale of self-contented humble commoners suddenly facing the big, quirk world outside with cyber world pulling the trigger.
"Baban (Kaushik), Rudra (Rudranil Ghosh) - the 'para cablewala' and the catalyst for change by introducing the simpleton school teacher to the cyberworld - both were a treat to watch and Rudra's character egged me on to do 'dustu dustu kaj' (mischievous deeds) on net," Prosenjit said.
