The sleuths of Forest Protection Force (FPF) have foiled a major smuggling bid and seized 270 timber logs of felled trees in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said today.
Acting on specific information, a team of FPF led by Deputy Director Zahid Moghal conducted raids and seized 270 timber logs in Marmat forest belt in Doda last night.
During the raid, the timber smugglers escaped from the spot and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits for felling of trees and smuggling them from the area.
A case has been registered in this connection, they said.
