Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will not be disqualified and in case that happens, he will be elected as an MLC and will retain his post.
Shinde also expressed condolences to the family over the death of Gawate, who hailed from Pimpalgaon Sarai in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, as per a statement
"He (Eknath Shinde) is saying all this because of the support that Uddhav Thackeray is getting," Congress added
"They (Uddhav) wear many masks and do things subtly with a straight face. He became an opportunity for the CM's post," charged Shinde
"There should be a strong government, but not of any one party with a brute majority," he added, targeting the BJP, his friend-turned-foe
The kin of each of the deceased will get a compensation of Rs five lakh from the state government, Shinde said
Sanjay Raut further said that the concerned Minister should be asked what was he doing for 6 months and the government should ask for his resignation
