Amazon, Flipkart in talks with Indian retail brands for strategic stakes

Due to FDI regulations, Amazon and Flipkart cannot directly acquire assets

and Walmart-owned are in talks with multiple small, regional as well large retailers including Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL) and Landmark Group, to acquire strategic minority stakes, according to sources. People in the know said that these investments are part of the strategy for e-commerce to tap the offline retail opportunity in the country.
