ArcelorMittal sponsors 78 for ITI training

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ArcelorMittal India, planning to set up a 12 million tonne greenfield steel project in Keonjhar district has sponsored 78 young people including 16 girls from its project site villages in Patna tehsil of Keonjhar district for ITI training at Don Bosco, Rourkela.The company has entered into an agreement with Don Bosco, Rourkela for the academic year 2009-2010 and 2009-2011.

Under this agreement, the company would fully fund the training of students who come from the project affected villages in Keonjhar. “We are working continuously towards building sustainable development models whereby, people themselves need to be empowered first. For this, right training and development of the right skill is very critical so that they can become self reliant and economically independent,” said Vijay Bhatnagar, CEO, ArcelorMittal India.

 

In January this year, the company had sponsored 18 students from Patna Tehsil for various technical training programmes at NTTF, Vellore.
