Bahwan CyberTek shifts headquarters to Chennai

BS Reporter Chennai
In line with its business restructuring imperatives and the ongoing expansion plans on the sales and R&D fronts, Bahwan CyberTek (BCT) has shifted its global corporate headquarters to Chennai.

The company has restructured its business operations in India. BCT's chief operating officer N P Menon said that BCT was planning to ramp up its presence and expand its sales footprint in India, besides stepping up the R&D thrust on its Cuecent line of products out of Chennai, where the company has a presence since 1999.

"By shifting the base to Chennai, we have broadened the scope of all our entities by aligning their operations with India. All foreign operations have now become fully-owned subsidiaries of the Indian arm," Menon said.

BCT's global development, BPO and training operations will now be consolidated at the company's new 1.8 lakh sq ft facility on the IT corridor. The new facility will have a capacity of 1,500 to 2,500 people, Menon said, without revealing further recruitment plans.

BCT's Chennai R&D facility has 25 people engaged in product engineering and related R&D work. The company has 800 people on its rolls across all its centres, 50 per cent of whom are based in Chennai.

The company will continue to target verticals like banking, finance and government even as it moves ahead with its goal of making India the R&D hub of BCT, Menon said.

Started in 1999, the $45-million company is a global technology solutions and support services provider.

A SEI CMMi 5 level company, BCT was recently adjudged one of Asia's Top 100 privately-managed companies by Red Herring. Now headquartered in Chennai, BCT has offices in Mumbai and Bangalore, apart from Oman, UAE and USA.
