Over half-a-dozen Kolkata-based companies had expressed interest to invest in the food processing sector in Chhattisgarh. A road show on promotion of food processing industries in Chhattisgarh was organised in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The event was jointly organised by Government of Chhattisgarh, state-run Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC), Indian Chamber of Commerce and Ernst & Young. After the investors meets, seven to eight leading industrialists from West Bengal had a one to one meeting with Chhattisgarh officials to discuss about the investment plan, Sunil Mishra, Managing Director of CSIDC said.
The industrialists would be coming to Chhattisgarh to give final shape to the proposals, he added. Mishra said JVL Agro had proposed to setup maize processing and starch production plant while Elque & Co. expressed interest in pickle, chutney and fruit processing units especially in tamarind. The Pheonix group had proposed to invest in food processing machineries manufacturing unit, Nice N Fresh sought support for IQF Plant for frozen "Food & Vegetables".
