Continental expands capacity of Bangalore, Pune centres

German auto component-maker Continental on Monday said it has expanded capacity for manufacturing and validation at its two centres located at Bangalore and Pune.
Continental, under its powertrain division has set up a new test and validation lab for fuel supply systems at its Bangalore development centre, the company said in a statement.
Further, two product lines for fuel rail assembly and in-tank fuel pumps have been being inaugurated at the Pune facility, it added.
The company, however, did not provide investments made for the expansion.
Commenting on the development Continental Engines Systems India Business Unit Head Joerg Laatsch said, "The localisation of the fuel rail assembly is a further milestone in coming closer to complete localised gasoline engine management systems and support our strategy to serve our customers directly here in India".
Continental is banking on its localisation strategy and believes it is the key to its growth and success in the developing markets, it added.
