Fiat reports second consecutive loss

Fiat SpA, the Italian carmaker that acquired a stake in Chrysler LLC, reported a second consecutive quarterly loss as slumping truck sales offset an improvement in car deliveries in western Europe. The net loss of ¤168 million ($239 million) in the three months ended June 30, compared with net income of 604 million euros a year earlier, Turin, Italy-based Fiat said in a statement today. Profit missed the average estimate of a ¤158.4- million loss from five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Revenue fell 23 percent to ¤13.2 billion, missing the ¤13.96- billion average estimate of 12 analysts. Fiat acquired 20 per cent of Chrysler last month as the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based maker of the Dodge Challenger and Jeep emerged from bankruptcy
