Fortinet launches new data centre security appliance

Press Trust of India Bangalore

Fortinet, a leading network security provider and a worldwide leader in unified threat management (UTM) solutions, today announced the addition of a new consolidated security appliance to its FortiGate product family.

The FortiGate-3140B consolidated security appliance is designed for large enterprises and data centres requiring maximum firewall, virtual private network and intrusion prevention system (IPS) performance to optimise protection against blended threats, destructive malware and constantly evolving attempts to breach security in high-speed network environments, the company said in a statement.

Leveraging custom FortiASIC processors, the appliance provides large enterprises with up to 58 gigabits-per-second of firewall performance, 10 Gbps of IPS performance and up to 22 gigabits-per-second of VPN performance, all in a highly compact two rack unit (2-RU) form factor designed to preserve precious wiring closet real estate, it said.

Fortinet also announced that new IDC research data confirms that the company has been again ranked No. 1 in the UTM space in India for Q4, 2010, and the full year of 2010.

In order to maintain its market leadership, Fortinet has appointed two new sales directors, Digvijaysinh Chudasama and Saurabh Chopra, both security market veterans, whose responsibility would be to accelerate market penetration in the strategic verticals of government, defence and telecommunications.
