Ila Parikh Mumbai/ Ahmedabad
The real estate sector, which has seen tremendous growth in the last few years in western parts of Ahmedabad, seems to be finally rising in the east too. A group of realtors has joined hands to develop a township in the Vastral ring road area.

About 100 acres of land has been earmarked for the proposed project by city-based Galaxy Group and the town planning scheme for this has been approved by the urban authorities.

"The work on the project will begin in a month or two. This will be the first township to come up in the eastern region," said Uday Bhatt, a promoter of Galaxy Group. The township would house 6000-7000 residential units.

"The eastern part of the city has tremendous potential for development. This side is still lacks good roads, parks and other infrastructural needs compared with western Ahmedabad," said architect Apoorva Amin, who is looking after the design and concept.

In the first phase, the township will have 2 and 3 BHK low-rise residential units in the range of Rs 15-20 lakh. Besides, it will house tenament and bungalows.

The township will also house a hospital, a mall, multiplex and other infrastructural facilities.

The Gujarat state government venture with IL&FS "" Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT)"" is also coming up in this area, giving this area the much needed impetus for development.
