Godrej eyes doubling mattresses market share

Godrej is aiming to double its market share in the organised mattresses industry.

The mattress vertical is part of Godrej Interio group and was launched in 2007

Soneshwar Prasad, Product Head, Mattress, said by the end of the year the aim is to have a 10 per cent market share among the organised players in the country.

As per estimates, organised mattress market in India is valued at around Rs 1500 crore, with three players in the fray.

In order to achieve the aim, the company is planning to increase their retail footprints by opening more stores.

“By the end of this year, we have plans to increase retailers to 1,500 from 100 at present. Also, plan is to launch 35 sleep studios this year out of which 4 sleep studios would come up in Chandigarh and a total of 12 sleep studios in the northern part of the country.”

 

Soneshwar Prasad also launched three new mattresses variants to be known in the market as Reborn, CalmCruizer and Sleepmate, which are likely to boost sales.
