Hewlett-Packard (HP), the country's largest computer and printer manufacturer, is transforming its product portfolio to increase market share and beat competition. Apart from introducing products to capture demand from start-ups and small and medium businesses, it is focusing on innovation and improving efficiency.
HP would spin off two verticals - enterprise solutions and computing and printer business - into two entities, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc, respectively, from November 1. Post the split, the company expects to improve its supply chain design, new product and services development, supplier management and customer relationship management.
"India is one of our stronger markets with robust growth potential," said president-designate Ron Coughlin. Coughlin hopes HP would foster creativity and speed into its PC and printer business.
"We will be a $57-billion start-up once the spinoff is complete," Coughlin added. According to an IDC report, HP was the market leader in the PC and printer markets in India with 26 per cent and 52 per cent share, respectively, in the April-June, 2015 quarter.
