JK Lakshmi to set up Rs 200-cr power plant

JK Lakshmi Cement, one of the leading companies of the JK Group, has drawn up a plan to spend Rs 200 crore in setting up a captive power plant. It also plans to improve the capacity of its plant in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan.
 
The company has also installed the first ready-mix concrete plant of the state in the Jaitpura industrial area.
 
A company official said the Jaipur plant was expected to enhance construction activities in the state.
 
He added that the plant would have a monthly capacity of 500 cubic metres. The use of ready-mix concrete could reduce total construction costs by as much as 15 percent, he added.
 
Viewing the increasing demand for ready-mix concrete, the company is planning to go for some more similar plants near Jaipur.
 
The official said the company had already started working on its plans to enhance the capacity of its power plant.
 
He said the company had decided to increase its yearly capacity from 30 lakh tonne to 35 lakh tonne.
 
Besides this, it would also install a captive power plant worth Rs 150 crore. Installation work for the plant was expected to be over in a years' time.
 
He said the company accounted for 30 percent of the total cement production in the country, which was about 127 million tonne.
 
He said the influx of foreign cement-producing companies in the domestic market should not be perceived as a threat. Several senior officials of the company were present during the occasion.
