Kuwait Airways starts Ahmedabad operations

BS Reporter Mumbai/ Ahmedabad
Kuwait Airways has started its flight operations directly from Ahmedabad, becoming the first carrier from the Middle East to operate direct services from here.

Fahad Al Dhafiri, senior regional director, Indian subcontinent, said, "The Gujarat market represents one of the strongest areas of international travel business in India. We believe this city is under-served in terms of capacity".

The airline will offer immediate connections to a host of popular destinations in the Gulf, Middle East, Europe and USA, including non-stop services from Kuwait to New York.

According to the company, with Kuwait being home to about 500,000 expatriate Indians, the services would cater to a large segment.

Currently, Kuwait Airways operates 29 weekly services from India from six online cities with daily services to both Delhi and Mumbai, four times weekly to Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and thrice weekly to Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad joined Kuala Lumpur as the latest destination on the Kuwait Airways network.
