Mahle, Benara tie up

The euro4.3 million Mahle Group of Germany--worldwide leader in engine components""has entered into a sales distribution agreement with Agra-based Benara Bearings and Piston Ltd to market its products in India and the neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The agreement will be effective for five years and is expected to cross the annual business of 600,000 piston assemblies from next year.

Mahle, with its global expertise in piston assemblies and other engine parts, aims to garner 30 per cent of the market share in two years from the 25,000-strong retail network Benara has in these countries.

Benara has a distributor network of over more than 100 distributors in the two- and three-wheeler segments and will undertake training sales and service staff throughout India to provide better sales and services support and achieve the sales target.

The company will concentrate on motorcycles and the three-wheeler segment with clear focus on the replacement market of engine spare parts.

Benara is also planning to meet the growing demand of original equipment manufacturers in India and plans to venture into the US, Germany, the UK and Russia in the near future.
