MAS GMR Aero Technic Limited (MGAT), the 50-50 joint venture between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering SdnBhd (MAE) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), has forayed into the aircraft line maintenance business by inaugurating its first office at the engineering building here on Tuesday.

The company has inked its first contract with British Airways to provide the line maintenance technician support at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) for their new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The foray marks the beginning of the expansion plans of MGAT aimed at providing a comprehensive maintenance support to the airlines flying in and out of and within India. MGAT envisages expansion of this support to other airports within India, the company stated in a press release.

“With base maintenance experience and backend support from our own MRO facility at Hyderabad, we will be able to provide value-added services to our line maintenance customers”, MGAT COO, Uday Naidu, said.
