Mohit Ind to set up brick plant in Mumbai

| Surat-based Mohit Industries, a manufacturer of texturised yarn and art silk grey fabrics, has lined up plans to diversify into the construction segment. |
| The company will be setting up an autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) bricks manufacturing plant at Boisar in Mumbai at an investment of Rs 20 crore. It also plans to install 10 texturising machines at a new facility at Silvassa, for which it has acquired 4,000 square metres of land adjacent to its existing plant. |
| The Boisar plant will have a capacity to produce 500 cubes per day, and will go onstream by October 2008. Revenues from the construction segment is expected to touch Rs 40 crore in a year, said Narayan Saboo, joint managing director of the company. |
| With the commissioning of the new textile facility at Silvassa, the company's production capacity is set to double from the current 18,000 metric tonne. |
| "The yarn produced from the new plant will be exported to the European nations where we are seeing a lot of interest," Saboo said. The plant will be set up with an investment of Rs 15 crore. The company's facility at Kim has a capacity of 6,000 metric tonne. |
