Bangalore: Biotech major Biocon today posted a 72 per cent drop in its first quarter net profit ended June 2008 at Rs 15 crore from Rs 53 crore on in the year-ago period as a result of mark-to-market (MTM) provisions of Rs 26 crore. The company's total income for the quarter was marginally up by 2 per cent at Rs 276.50 crore, while sales (excluding enzymes) grew by 7 per cent.

 

Colgate Palmolive net rises 18%

Mumbai: Colgate Palmolive (India) posted a net profit of Rs 71.9 crore in the first quarter of FY09, an increase of 18 per cent over the same quarter last year. The company reported a jump in net sales by 16 per cent to Rs 407.6 crore. The company's toothbrush category witnessed a volume growth of 32 per cent in the current quarter, increasing its market share to 37.2 per cent for the January-May 2008 period.

ICI profit rises three-fold to Rs 70.8 cr

Kolkata: ICI India, a leading manufacturer of decorative and refinished paints, has posted a three-fold rise in its profit after tax (PAT) for the first quarter of the current financial year to Rs 70.8 crore on account of income from investments. Net sales has grown marginally from Rs 226.7 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal to Rs 227.5 crore. On Thursday, the company's board deferred a plan to buy back its shares.

Concor June quarter profit up 8%

New Delhi: Container Corporation of India (Concor) on Friday reported 7.9 per cent growth in its net profit for the June 2008 quarter at over Rs 260 crore, against analysts' projection of 3 per cent growth. The revenue for the quarter rose 6 per cent to over Rs 850 crore.

Polaris Q1 net profit surgs 87%

Chennai: Polaris Software Lab on Thursday reported a 87 per cent rise in net profit to more than Rs 280 crore for the quarter to June. Revenues rose 23 per cent to over Rs 317 crore, it said in a statement. The board also approved commencement of real estate business activity, it said.
