Ola commits $20 million investment for additional safety

Creates SOS button for its customers in its app

Ola has committed to an investment of $20 million in the next one year towards additional safety and security initiatives.The Ola app has an SOS button for its customers in its app, which when activated, will send out all ride details in real-time including GPS coordinates to a pre-set friend or family member of the user via SMS and e-mail.

In addition to the in-cab phone enabled GPS system already present in every cab, an additional layer of GPS has already been installed in most cabs across cities who have registered under Ola's platform, said the company adding that customers can also opt-in to always share ride details with their loved ones proactively, without having to do so every time they take a ride.

Once shared it can track and shows the movement of the cab on a map in real time. The company also has a 24/7 call center which can assist customers when in need. At the back end all the cabs can be tracked by Ola.

 
Ola slashes prices in Chennai

The company today announced a fare reduction in its mini and sedan category in Chennai today. The fares have been reduced to Rs 10/km from Rs 12/km for Mini category and from Rs 16/km to Rs 12/km for its Sedan category.

The base fare has also been reduced from Rs 120 for the first 5 km to Rs 99 for the first 4km. Base fare for mini is Rs 99 for the first 5 km.
