Oracle India Private Limited has announced that it will consider setting up its next unit in Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh.

This was in response to a suggestion made by chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy during his meeting with Oracle India officials here.

An Oracle India delegation comprising managing director Sekhar Das Gupta and vice-president Murali Subrahmanian called on the chief minister yesterday and explained to him the company's activities in Andhra Pradesh. Oracle was the first IT company to set up a unit at Cyber Towers at the Hi-Tec City in Hyderabad.

Assuring all necessary support to the company in its efforts to promote employment-oriented IT projects in the state, the chief minister advised it to start operations in tier-II cities like Visakhapatnam.

He also agreed to visit the Oracle centre after the assembly session. CS Rao, advisor (IT) to AP government, and J C Mohanty, principal secretary (IT&C), also attended the meeting, said an official press release here.
