Ford India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader, had achieved a record sales of 83,887 units from January to December 2010, a top official of the company said.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Anurag Mehrotra, Vice President-Marketing Ford India Private Limited, said 'from Jan to Dec 2010, the company sold 83,887 units and nearly tripled its sales volume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009'.
Ford India's year-on-year December sales were up 172 percent compared to December 2009, he said.
To further strengthen its service support, Ford India has been expanding its sales and service network across the country, he said, adding the company's dealer network has increased to over 170 across over 100 cities in the country.
Figo had also won several industry award including 'the India car of the Year award (ICOTY 2011) and ET ZigWheels Car of the Year 2010, he said.

2010 has been an outstanding year for Ford in India with nearly triple digit growth rates, he said, adding 'Ford recorded an impressive annual sales increase of 184 percent in 2010'.
'We have plans to export to another 48 countries', he said, adding presently we are exporting to South Africa and Nepal.
Kerala has been a good market for us in South India, he said.
