Renault to launch 5 models by '12

French car maker Renault today launched its premium sedan, Fluence, here. “We are planning to launch five models in India by 2012 and aim to sell 100,000 units in 2013,” said Renault India managing director Marc Nassif .

The current size of the market is of 2.5 million units in India and is expected to reach around 4 million by 2015. “We aim to double the sale to reach 200,000 unit, which is projected to be a five per cent market share by 2015,” Sudhir Rao, deputy managing director, Renault India, said.

Renault would focus on the diesel version of Fluence to drive sales. Fluence diesel is priced at Rs 13.12 lakh and the petrol variant is priced at Rs 14.55 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad).

 

Renault is also mulling a new small car, its sixth model in the country, by 2013 or 2014, he said. Currently, it has 14 dealership in the country, and is targeting to open 100 outlets across 75 cities by 2012.

Renault, along with its global alliance Nissan, has committed an investment of Rs 4,500 crore by 2015 at its Chennai facility, which will have a total production capacity of 400,000 units per annum, Nassif said.
