Country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has been conferred the National Award by the ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for its performance in the implementation of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme for the year 2012.
The award was conferred by President Pranab Mukherjee to Pratip Chaudhuri, chairman, SBI.
SBI had surpassed the target set under PMEGP scheme for FY2011-12, the bank said in a statement.
This is the fourth consecutive year that SBI has bagged this award for its performance under the scheme since inception, the statement added.
