Sukhoi 30 MKI to fly with MRF tyres

Tyre maker MRF launched main wheel tyres for the Indian Air Force (IAF)'s Sukhoi 30 MKI on Saturday in Chennai. MRF got the project for the aircraft's tyres in 2008. The project was anchored by the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification, Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (Nashik), the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance, IAF and Hindustan Aeronautics . These tyres were designed by MRF's inhouse R&D facilities and have been tested for ground speeds of up to 420 km an hour with loads in excess of 18 tonnes a tyre. MRF has started supplying the tyres, being produced at its factory in Medak, Andhra Pradesh, to IAF.
