Sunil Sood, Vodafone India's Chief Operating Officer, is taking over as the company's MD & CEO from Marten Pieters from April this year.
Sood is currently responsible for the company's day-to-day operations and P&L management along with new business development initiatives including the launch and expansion of mobile commerce activities.
Sood, who joined Vodafone India's predecessor business, Hutch, in 2000, held various roles in the company and also led its operations in Gujarat, Kolkata and Chennai.
Ealier, Sood worked for Pepsi in a range of Indian and international leadership roles.
Sood, who graduated from IIT (Delhi) and PGDM from IIM (Kolkata), is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Pieters will continue to remain on the Board of Vodafone India in a non-executive capacity, a statement by Vodafone said.
