Tata Coffee reappoints Hameed Huq as MD for one year

Prior to joining Tata Coffee, Huq was in Tata Tea since 1972

Tata Coffee Limited, Bangalore-based exporter of specialty coffee, has reappointed Hameed Huq as Managing Director for a period of one year commencing January 3, 2013. The board of directors of the company at a meeting held on December 14, 2012 has passed a resolution to this effect.

Hameed Huq has been the Managing Director of Tata Coffee since January 3, 2010. Huq joined Tata Coffee in the year 1999 as Vice President (Plantations) and was promoted as Executive Director (Plantations) with effect from January 3, 2005.

Prior to joining Tata Coffee, Huq was in Tata Tea since 1972 and held various senior positions in the company. He also had a short stint in Plantations in Sri Lanka from 1994 to 1997.

Tata Coffee is India’s largest integrated coffee plantation company. It owns 19 coffee estates located in coffee growing highlands of Southern India. Spread over 8,037 hectares in Coorg, Chickmaglur and Hassan districts of Karnataka and in Valparai district of Tamil Nadu, Tata Coffee produces 10,000 metric tonnes of natural shade grown Arabica and Robusta coffees, in both washed and unwashed forms.
