Tata Steel scholarship for 19 students

Nineteen children belonging to families displaced by Tata Steel’s six million tonne integrated steel project at Kalinganagar have been awarded the Tata Steel Parivar Scholarship for 2012-13. While seven students have taken admission in B-Tech programme in engineering colleges, 12 have been admitted to diploma courses in engineering. The scholarship covers the entire educational expenses of the recipients including college and hostel fees for pursuing their dreams in reputed technical institutions. This year’s recipients include Rajeev Jamuda, who has taken admission in electrical Engineering to accomplish his aim of becoming a graduate engineer. Similarly, a girl student- Sarmila Tiu, has taken admission in diploma programme in civil engineering.

 

With the award of scholarships to 19 more students this year, the total number of recipients of the Tata Steel Parivar Scholarship Programme has gone up to 85. Arun Misra, deputy vice president (operations), Odisha project distributed the scholarship to the students at a function organised at Kalinganagar on Tuesday. Rajesh Chintak, general manager (corporate services) was among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
