United Group plans design institute in Kolkata

In a bid to tap the student belt of north east states, Ahmedabad-based United Group is planning to set up a campus in Kolkata. The group, plans to begin work on the second campus of the design institute by next year.

"In terms of design education, the north east region in the country offers a huge potential for us. Therefore, after Ahmedabad, we are planning a second design institute in Kolkata which will look to tap the north east region," said Ritesh Hada, managing director of United Group.

"We will be offering the degree in five disciplines including fashion design, lifestyle and accessories design, product design, interior design, visual communications-cum-graphic design and fashion retail management," said Pankaj Patel, mentor and principal faculty at UID.

 

Moreover, amidst dearth of faculty in the design vertical, UID is also planning to offer faculty development programme at its Ahmedabad campus.
