YuppTV, the live Internet TV channel streaming platform of Hyderabad-based Global Takeoff, launched a new live broadcasting service on Friday.

Targeting videographers and content providers, the new technology helps broadcast events to global audience live and as video-on-demand (VOD).

“The new service provides a medium for people to watch corporate events, sports, weddings and other events live on their television screens and on other Internet-enabled devices, which they cannot personally attend due to other commitments,” Uday Reddy, chairman and chief executive officer of Global Takeoff, told mediapersons.

The new service is powered by YuppTV’s core video encoding technology, which is integrated with a multiple 3G cellular cards’ device, for uplinking video transmissions directly from live cameras.

“We have also integrated social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter with the service. This enables end users to send messages from the social media sites, which will be displayed as a scrolling on the TV screens while the videos are being broadcast live,” he said.

Stating that the company was primarily targeting the Indian expatriates, Reddy said that the company was planning to sell the service for anywhere between Rs 6,000 and Rs 15,000 per event or for a monthly subscription of Rs 13,000. The service captures events in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali.

YuppTV currently over 150 Indian TV channels, 4,500 daily videos and over 600 movies, reaching out to six million viewers, mostly India diaspora, across South Asian countries, the US, Europe, Australia and Canada through paid subscription.
