Zee Tele net dips 19% to Rs 31 cr

Zee Telefilms has posted 19.29 per cent drop in net profit for the third quarter ended December 2005 at Rs 31 crore as compared with Rs 38.41 crore during the corresponding period last year.

Revenues stood at Rs 231.3 crore, a 42.39 per cent increase over Rs 162.51 crore for the year-ago period.

Profit before tax was down by 20 per cent at Rs 44.62 crore as compared with Rs 55.77 crore in Q3 FY04.

Chairman Subhash Chandra said: "Over the last few quarters, we have focussed on Zee TV, the flagship channel, and invested across genres of programming, including soaps, musical shows and comedy shows. The efforts have yielded positive results, with Zee TV now firmly placed second in the general entertainment category, and showing good upward momentum."
