Chhattisgarh lawmakers want say in CSR spending

The members of opposition Congress party in Chhattisgarh had opined that the legislators from the respective district should be included in the committee monitoring the spending of industries under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) head.

The state government had set up committee at the district level that had been headed by the district collector. "The legislators should also be included as member in the committee of the respective district monitoring the CSR spending by the corporate," Leader of Opposition T S Singh said in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, who also holds the additional portfolio of industry department, said that the district administration had been inviting suggestions from the legislators and the proposals that could be implemented through the CSR fund. He hinted that there was no such plan to include the legislators in the monitoring committee.
