“No need of looking behind, FORWARD! We want infinite energy, infinite courage, infinite patience...”, tweeted Narendra Modi this afternoon. The fire-brand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, who has secured a hat-trick to the chief minister’s office, was busy attending meetings the day before the counting started. He held meetings on the Narmada Water grid project in Kutch and reviewed preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in January.
On resuming office, Modi is expected to take back from exactly where he left before the state went into polls. This is exactly what industry in Gujarat is happy about.
“The growth momentum should be carried on. He (Modi) is there for the last 10 years and there are definite goals he has set for the development of the state. Instead of someone new coming in and the momentum getting hit, it is better Modi continues,” said Talha Sareshwala, head, Parsoli Motor Works Pvt Ltd, a Muslim entrepreneur in the state.
Industry captains feel BJP returning to power for a third time would ensure more investments into the state. “Stability in the state would enhance confidence of the industry and herald new investments,” said Adi Godrej, president, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Pradeep Bhargava, regional chairman, CII Western region (which covers Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh & Goa), said this was a mandate for good governance and an efficient business environment.
