Former chief minister of Nagaland, SC Jamir was on Thursday sworn-in as the Governor of Odisha.
Jamir was administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Odisha High Court , C Nagappan at a function at Raj Bhavan here.
The veteran Congress leader succeeded Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare , whose tenure ended on August 20 last year. However, Bhandare had been continuing at the top constitutional post as his successor was not announced.

Considered as one of the architects of modern Nagaland, Jamir had also served as Governor of Maharashtra and Goa.
Jamir was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1961. As Union minister, he served in the ministries of railways, labour & rehabilitation, community development and cooperation and food & agriculture.
A host of dignitaries, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary, BK Patnaik attended the swearing-in ceremony.
“At the last leg of my career, I have come here with a mission to be part and parcel of Odisha’s development,” said the 82 year old Jamir after taking oath.
