)
Unperturbed by the threat of the government of Maharashtra for booking under the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA), the Maharashtra State Chemist and Druggist Association (MSCDA) has called on three – day strike of chemists shop between December 16 and 18 across Maharashtra state.
Amid expectations of difficulties faced by the common man, the state government had threatened to invoke MESMA to create a fear among chemists to call off strike. In response to that, MSCDA has called on “jail bharo” beginning Monday.
Among others, chemists protest frequent raids by the Food and Drug Administration on them and cancellation of their license periodically. FDA has cancelled licenses of a number of chemists permanently also.
