Mars Misson: Third midnight manoeuver successful

This was one of the largest leap, says Isro

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) successfully completed the third orbit-raising manoeuvre of the Mars orbiter spacecraft at 02:10:43 hrs today.

The third orbit raising manoeuvre of Mars Orbiter Spacecraft, with a burn time of 707 seconds has been successfully completed, said Isro, adding that the apogee (the farthest point from Earth) has now increased from 40,186 km to 71,636 km.

This one of the largest leap, said Isro.

The remaining two orbit-raising manoeuvres will take place on November 11 (to raise apogee to 100,000 km) and then finally one on November 16 (to raise apogee to 192,000 km).
