A seven-member medical board has been formed at the state-run SSKM Hospital to monitor the health of West Bengal Sports and Transport minister Madan Mitra who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the Saradha scam, hospital officials said.

The seven-member board comprised a cardiologist, an endocrinologist, a nephrologist, and a neurologist besides three others including an urologist, psychiatrist and a chest-medicine specialist to monitor the minister's health condition everyday, hospital officials said.

The board would send a day-to-day report on Mitra's health to the Alipore Central Jail authorities, but the hospital would not issue any official bulletin in this connection, they said.

The minister was brought to the SSKM hospital from the Alipore Central Jail on December 19 after he complained of chest pain and respiratory distress. Prior to that on the same day, he was remanded to judicial custody till January 2 by a city court.
