Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) chairman RK Sinha while welcoming the Supreme Court order giving green signal to the Kudankulam nuclear power project said the apex court has decided in favour of their assertion that nuclear power is safe and essential for development of the nation.
Sinha told Business Standard: “I am aware that a great deal of work needs to be done to bring this message to all the sections of our citizens who have expressed certain apprehensions in this regard. We have been already trying out best but we will now make best use of different kinds of media to further extend our reach.”
He said it is also important to communicate the great advantages of atomic energy in various fields other than nuclear power such as agriculture, health care, industry, drinking water, environment protection, scientific research and education.
