Greenpeace India has said that the Supreme Court verdict on the Kudankulam project is complacent and uncritical of the nuclear establishment.
"It relies on the expert advice of the very people, the petition sought to challenge. Even though regulator has found faulty valves being used at Koodankulam; the Supreme Court has asserted that the plant is ‘safe and secure’. The court has taken a very partial, one sided view of the matter. The 15 points which need to be adhered to assume that the people near the plant need to be “educated” about the benefits of the reactor," said Karuna Raina, energy campaigner Greenpeace India.
Raina said, “It is the same condescending attitude with which the establishment interacts with the people. They assume that the people living near the reactor need to be educated rather than engaged with”
