Press Trust of India Lucknow
Justifying Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav's decision to continue support to UPA, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said this was necessary to keep communal forces at bay.

"I do not want to get into the arithmetic ... We are supporting the UPA government to keep the communal forces out of power and any decision on withdrawing the support would be taken by the SP president," the Chief Minister said.

Akhilesh, who is also state SP president, was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

To a specific question, he said SP was always ready for elections and added that the party would enter the fray whenever they take place.
